Your first virtual server

Choose a VPS around the software you want to run

VPS hosting gives your project its own operating system environment on a physical host. It suits teams that need to install server software, schedule jobs or configure an application beyond a shared hosting account. Start with the software requirements and the time you can devote to administration, then compare the plans above against that workload.

A development or staging environment

Keep a test version of your application separate from production. Include the runtime, database, build process and test data when estimating memory and disk use. Restrict access to the environment, use separate credentials and check for accidental email sending or payment requests before copying a live application.

A website with a custom stack

Consider a VPS when your website requires a particular runtime, background worker or web server configuration. Account for the operating system as well as the website. If your project fits a hosting account and your team does not need system administration, compare web hosting before taking on a server.

Scheduled jobs and internal services

An integration service, task queue or internal dashboard may need modest resources but regular maintenance. Check how often tasks run, whether several jobs overlap and how much history they retain. Protect administrative access and decide who receives an alert when a task fails or a disk approaches capacity.

Selection guide

VPS, VDS or a hosting account?

DCHost currently lists the same virtual server catalogue on its VPS and VDS pages. Compare the actual CPU, RAM, disk and service terms; the page name alone does not establish a different resource guarantee. The VDS guide looks more closely at application sizing.

Your next step

Prepare a VPS you can maintain

A low starting price is only part of the operating cost. Include licences, backup storage and the work required to maintain the system when planning your first server.

  • Write a small resource budget

List the operating system, application, database and log requirements. Leave capacity for updates and temporary files. Use the plan's stated figures rather than assuming that every virtual server has the same disk or network allocation.

  • Secure the first login

Choose supported software, limit administrative access and use strong credentials or keys where supported. Apply updates and configure the firewall before making the application public. Keep recovery access details available to the responsible administrator.

  • Create an independent recovery copy

Document which files and databases must be backed up, where copies are stored and how long they are retained. Test a restore in a separate environment. A second copy on the same server is not protection against losing that server.

  • Measure before changing the plan

Observe memory use, disk growth, CPU pressure and task duration under normal and busy conditions. Use those measurements to discuss a resource change, including any restart or migration work, before your next release.

THE DIFFERENCE INSIDE EACH PLAN

Compare VPS resources side by side

Review resources, usage allowances and included services in one table. See where a higher plan gives your project more room as its requirements grow.

Proxmox + KVMEach KVM virtual machine runs its own operating-system kernel. Proxmox provides the management layer; compare CPU, memory and storage for your workload.

Virtual server questions

How do I choose between VPS and VDS?

Compare the actual resources and management scope rather than the label. DCHost’s VPS and VDS listings use the same virtual server plan catalogue. Neither the name nor a CPU count alone promises a reserved physical processor. The shared hypervisor uplink is identified separately in the plan table.

Is the network port dedicated to my server?

No. The network speed shown in these plans belongs to the shared hypervisor uplink. It is not a dedicated connection of that speed for each virtual server. Traffic labelled Unmetered (Fair Usage) is subject to the fair usage provisions in the service terms. Traffic usage and port capacity describe different things; compare them separately in the plan table.

Can I order a server in Turkey?

Choose the Turkey location offered for the configuration you are ordering. Confirm the deployment city and availability for that plan before payment. If latency is important, contact us to discuss the target region and a suitable way to test the route from your users’ networks.

What do I manage, and how do I get support?

These plans are self-managed: you administer the operating system, installed applications, security updates and your own data protection workflow. Technical support is available 24/7; open a support ticket with the service identifier and the problem you observed. English documentation is available. For ongoing software administration, review the separate managed service.

Are Windows, a hosting panel and extra IP addresses included?

An operating system option does not automatically include every software licence. Review the selected OS, panel licence and IP options in the order summary. Include any paid additions when comparing the total recurring cost of the plan.

How should I arrange backups?

Build a backup schedule around how often your data changes, keep copies separate from the running server and test recovery. The published weekly web hosting policy does not define VPS backup retention. For DCHost-assisted backup or restoration, agree the service scope, retention and recovery process through support.

Can I migrate or increase resources later?

For migration, prepare a copy of your data and test the application before changing DNS; agree any assisted transfer scope with support. For an upgrade, open the service in the customer portal to check available options. Confirm whether the change needs a restart or migration and take a current backup before it begins.

How do billing, renewal and cancellation work?

Review the billing period, optional licences, taxes and order total before payment. Check an existing service’s renewal amount in the customer portal; the renewal guide explains the checks. Cancellation and refund eligibility depend on the service and transaction under the refund policy.
